Hair Loss and Stress
If you suddenly start losing large amounts of your hair for seemingly
no reason, you might want to take a look at the stress in your life.
Stress and hair loss often will go hand in hand.
Stress is defined as a demand of either physical or mental energy.
Emotional stress can take a toll on your energy level and your overall
good health. Stress is something that we all deal with at some point
in time but most of us deal with it to some point on a daily basis.
Stress makes demands on our body that is difficult for us to maintain
for long periods of time. It is no wonder that hair loss and stress
are often associated with each other.
With our busy lives it is stressful for families to try and make
a living while still finding time for family. The increasing demand
on the dollar is also a source of stress for practically everyone.
The problem with stress is that it will eventually get your attention
and let you know that something is wrong. Often that comes with
hair loss.
You might not even notice at first that you have a problem. Then
one morning you get up and you find a lot of hair on your pillow.
While brushing your hair you also notice that the brush has more
hair in it than usual. This could very well be your body’s
way of telling you that you need to slow down and de-stress.
Often the condition that a person’s hair is in will tell
a lot about that person’s health. Dull and lifeless hair may
be saying that something is wrong. On the same hand, thin hair may
also be telling you something is wrong. It may be that your body
is telling you that you cannot deal with all of the stress you are
under. Stress and hair loss could very possibly ruin your life if
you allow it.
Another kind of hair loss and stress is when the body has suffered
some type of shock such as surgery. Many people believe that putting
one to sleep often causes hair loss but the real fact is the body
has been subjected to stress. While the body is healing from the
surgery the individual may experience temporary hair loss as a result.
This is because the body is putting forth extra effort to mend and
the hair follicles may suffer over the short term. The good thing
about this type of stress and hair loss is that it is usually a
temporary condition and after the body has time to heal the hair
will once again grow and become healthy.
