How to Find the Right Treatment
We have all heard or experienced first hand the same frustrating
story - turning on the shower or combing our hair, and feeling
like we are finding more hair on the bathtub bottom and comb
than on our scalp! Hair is often referred to as our 'crowning
glory', and is a symbol of beauty, health and youth. Losing
it often feels like a loss of youth, health and beauty.
Is hair loss difficult to treat? Most times, the clear answer
is no. Medical science has already published very concrete
and specific information on what causes hair loss. In more
than 95% of all people - especially for men - DHT or Di-Hydrotestosterone
is the causes of pattern baldness or hair loss. While there
are cases where medication and stress can causes issues, those
cases are in fact, quite rare overall.
The best way to treat hair loss is to take 5 minutes to educate
yourself on this primary cause and learn how to stop it. After
this, it is easy to find the perfect treatment for you!

What is a Hair Follicle?
A hair follicle is the part of the skin in a pore that grows
hair. The hair follicle is comprised of the sebaceous gland,
which is a tiny gland that secretes sebum (natural ols) that
help lubricate the hair shaft and keep the hair follicle healthy.
The hair follicle gets its nourishment directly from the
blood vessels that support and are connected to the base of
the follicle.
The growth rate of the average health hair follicle is approximately
1/2 an inch per month.
What is DHT and the Impact on the Follicle?
DHT is a natural hormone byproduct that is created when naturally
occurring Testosterone interacts with an enzyme on in the
scalp called 5-alpha reductase.
On its own, DHT is fine, and is fact a requirement for the
body during puberty to help establish pubic hair growth. However,
after about the age 19 DHT is no longer used by the body.
The DHT that is created by the natural conversion concentrates
within the scalp area. There it 'binds' to androgen receptors
in the follicle.
The hair follicles in the frontal hairline and crown do not
tolerate this hormone well. The hormone begins to slowly destroy
the follicle, miniaturizing it, and causing it to become wispy
and 'baby-like' over time. Eventually a follicle that is predisposed
to this DHT will die, unable to produce any more hair. This
is why the frontal area and crown are often the first regions
of hair to thin out.
Genetically, a small percentage of men and women are more
protected against this process. This is why some men can retain
their hair better, even into their 40's and 50's. However,
over time most men succumb to hair loss - either due to this
process, or a combination of this process and age.
Great, How Do I Stop This From Happening
to Me?
By naturally limiting the ability of DHT to bind to the follicle,
you prevent DHT from binding. Products that are able to do
this are classified as DHT blockers. Natural blockers of this
nature are the most safe and are very effective.
In general, a natural blocker will bind a related compound
to the follicle, or block the process of the enzyme conversion
so that less DHT accumulates around your hair follicles. By
doing this, these types of products prevent the decay of the
hair follicles and allow the hair to grow uninhibited.
Further Fuel Hair Growth
Once you have blocked DHT from killing the hair follicle
by using a DHT blocker, you can speed up the hair growth process
and scalp enviroment health by bringing more nutrition to
the scalp. This is done via the bloodstream.
Minoxidil is commonly used for this. It is known as a mild
vasodilator, and expands the blood vessels in the scalp so
that more nutrient rich blood can reach the hair follicle.
The increased nutrient rich blood then supports healthier
hair growth.
