Raquel Welsh has them, so does Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson! Not only do they wear hair extensions, they sell their own line of them. I mean who doesn’t want to pay huge amounts of money to have celebrity designed hair extensions to go along with all the fabulous other products they push? But seriously, hair extensions can not only help people who have a lot of hair that grows slowly, it can be very effective for people who don’t have much hair. Mostly women though…sorry guys!
There is a lot more to hair extensions that most people know. Price obviously varies from if you are using human hair or synthetic hair and how you having it applied to the hair you already have. Hair extensions come wefted, or bulk. Wefted hair extensions are already put together using very fine thread and bulk hair comes loosely packaged and is mostly used for braiding or strand bonding.
With Wefted Hair Extensions, they can be bonded using hair adhesives or weaved into a weave piece that is attached to the clients hair using weaving thread. Special care needs to be considered when having a weave done. If you aren’t seeing someone that is very experienced in doing weaves, you can end up with serious damage to your existing hair and scalp.
Strand bonding is done using strands of bulk hair and a special hair adhesive to secure the extension to the natural hair. Your hair will move the most naturally with this method and tends to last 4-6 months with proper care and maintenance.
There are many various methods to having extensions put in. Corn Row Tracking, Extend Tube Technique, and Seamless Hair Extensions are just a few to mention.
Corn Row Tracking is done by weaving the hair into corn row braids rather than using thread to hold the hair in place.
The Extend Tube Technique is rather new and uses small clamping tubes to attach the hair. There is a bit of extra adhesive at the tip of the strand for optimal hold. Once the hair is sectioned off it is pulled through a tiny tube quickly and then sealed.
One of the newer forms of hair extensions has to be the Seamless Hair Extension. The hair comes pre-attached to an adhesive backing that you apply to strands of your hair that are held between a skin backing and the hair extension. You then use a skin wefting tool to seal the hair in place. The advantage to the Seamless method is that the hair is reusable and can be removed with ease.
Whatever your needs are for hair extensions, you can rest assured that there is a method out there that will be right for you.
