Fun with wigs

There are many tips out there for wearing wigs. But some people don’t have a choice - they don’t need the tips, they need how to have fun with wearing a wig.

There is emotional trauma involved in hair loss, especially hair loss that is so extensive that you have to wear a wig. When this happens, especially for women, it is likely to be accompanied by a feeling of shame, or a need to cover-up the fact that you are losing hair. Therefore, people tend to choose wigs that mimic real hairstyles, sometimes that mimic their old hair.

Wigs come in all sorts an colors. Why choose one that mimics what you lost? Instead, get a sense of adventure and invest in wigs of many colors, shapes and lengths. If you are on a limited budget, you can invest in one wig, and use hair pieces to make it different. Wigs tend not to be dye-able, so pick one in a color you like.

You have been loosing hair for a while, and people have probably noticed (even if they haven’t said anything). Getting a wig that looks like your old hair might be suspicious. Instead, get a new color. If you were a brunette, try a red head - or a blond. You can even go black and see if your fair skin glows with the darker hair.

If you had short hair, you can still get a wig with short hair. Then you can also get some hair pieces from your local store. If you get a long, straight, ponytail addition, you can simply toss it on the short hair wig whenever you want. Then you can have short hair and long hair.

Don’t try to hide the fact that you are wearing a wig. Many people are going to notice anyways. Instead, have fun with it and enjoy the ability to change your hair at will without having to wait for it to grow out, be dyed, or be styled. Use your sense of adventure and walk the trails of new hair dos!
