Our scalp is made of skin just like any other part of our body. The scalp also has hair flowing from it. When the skin of the scalp becomes damaged, hair loss can be the result. Actual hair loss can vary from a thinning of the hair to clumps of hair falling out. These conditions can have deep psychological effects as well as the physical effects.

Sebbhoreic dermatitis is one condition that can lead to hair loss.

Dermatitis of the scalp is a condition that has redness and scaling of the scalp as a symptom. A sever for can lead to hair loss because of the itching and scratching that ensues. The actual dermatitis may not cause hair loss, but the result of the dermatitis is physical symptoms that cause hair loss.

Some sufferers of sebbhoreic dermatitis do not develop the itching and scratching that causes hair loss. However, they may suffer from inflammation of the skin that can cause the hair to fall out of the follicles in the scalp.

People who suffer from dermatitis on the scalp also tend to suffer it on their faces, causing eyebrows to fall out.

Treating this condition is easy – visit your doctor or dermatologist. Actual dermatitis is generally caused by bacteria and antibiotics may cure the problem right up. Other times dermatitis is an allergic reaction, and you can determine allergies with simple skin tests.

In mot cases, hair loss due to dermatitis is reversible with time. In some cases, where this isn’t the case, you might need hair transplants or wigs. In any case, getting rid of the infection will cause the sufferer to feel much better.
