So you like to go out and have a few drinks every now and then? Is this bad for you? Well for the most part, no! In fact, some doctors say having a drink a day, or at least every few days, could very well be good for your body. It’s when you drink too much alcohol that you are going to have problems. One problem that has now started to be seen from too much alcohol is hair loss. Now, alcohol and hair loss is not something that a lot of people think about. Today we are going to talk about hair loss and alcohol and how they affect each other. In fact, the way that people went about finding out this information was kind of by mistake and was not really what they were looking for.
One thing that causes hair loss is increased levels of estrogen in the body. Well, you are thinking that’s all great and everything, but how does estrogen and alcohol even relate to each other? Well the truth of the matter is that drinking alcohol, particularly a lot of alcohol over one period of time, can increase the estrogen levels in the body by a lot. In men, this increase in estrogen levels normally comes the day after you were drinking, or when you are hung over. Not only that, but alcohol and hair loss also affect each other, because alcohol actually removes zinc from your body. Zinc is one of those things that your body needs. In fact, zinc is essential for the up keep of healthy hair. So pretty much to put it simply, a lot of alcohol increases estrogen, which causes hair loss.
So what does this all mean really? Well it means that if you are really trying to keep your hair and you do not want estrogen to be the reason why it falls out, then you are going to need to make sure that you do not over drink. Once again, remember that you do not have to stop drinking all together. What it does mean is that you should never over drink. By watching your intake of alcohol, you can avoid having a lot of thinning hair and could even help it to grow back.
You do have to keep in mind, however, that alcohol is not the only cause of hair loss. Although it is a cause of hair loss, there are other ones out there. Thus, you may need to talk to your doctor to see what he thinks is causing your hair loss. Either way, not drinking a lot of alcohol is good for you, and not drinking a lot will not hurt you. Pretty much meaning that this is a great way to check to see what is causing your hair loss. Now, if you cut way back on how much you drink and your hair is still falling out, then you need to go see your doctor. After all, your doctor may be the only person that can fill you in on what is causing your hair loss. The fact of the matter is that hair loss does not have to happen to anyone. So give this idea a shot, and see how it works for you.
